POSITION/DUTIES

We are currently looking for a highly motivated, results driven individual with leadership qualities to fill the position of Head of Investment Accounting, located in our Windsor, CT office.  This position manages the investment accounting functions and resources of Prime Advisors, currently consisting of 12 investment accounting professionals.  The responsibilities involve providing and maintaining securities accounting and reporting for institutional insurance clients, as well as private wealth accounts, on a STAT/GAAP basis, with the ability to operate within a fast paced and deadline driven environment and deliver exceptional client service.  Strong interpersonal skills are required as there is significant contact and interaction with clients, in addition to all levels within the Prime organization including Senior Management, Portfolio Managers, Portfolio Strategists, IT, and Systems Development.  The position is tasked with the overall integrity and timeliness of financial data through the application of proper accounting controls, in addition to interpretation and implementation of investment accounting policies and procedures as it relates to regulatory guidance.  Some travel required for industry conferences, client meetings, and marketing presentations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

-  Overall management of accounting group, including reviews, development, hiring, and retention decisions.
-  Ensure proper adherence to controls and procedures in support of Prime’s SOC audit report.
-  Preparation, review, and delivery of monthly reporting within established client deadlines.
-  Preparation and review of quarterly and annual Schedule D regulatory reports and corresponding exhibits, footnote disclosures, and interrogatories.
-  Provide technical support, guidance, and interpretation on accounting records and industry policies/procedures/reporting requirements.
-  Establish, cultivate, and maintain quality client relationships and communications.
-  Provide responses to ad-hoc requests from clients, consultants, auditors, and internal Prime professionals.
-  Identify and help develop automation and re-engineering opportunities to the accounting and systems workflows to drive efficiencies and scalability.
-  Accounting conversions and onboarding of new clients.
-  NAIC Third Party Administrator (TPA) for insurance clients.
-  Third party and internal data gathering and file creation for systems.
-  Attend industry conferences (IASA) as well as client and marketing meetings as needed.
-  Stay abreast of constantly changing Statutory accounting and reporting requirements and corresponding quarterly and annual statement modifications.
-  Manage Camra vendor relationship, including release and testing functions.
-  Preparation and review of the annual AM Best SRQ investment exhibits.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

-  Accounting or Finance degree, CPA preferred, with 15+ years related experience.
-  Superior leadership and managerial skills to effectively move the team forward.
-  Client centric and demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional client service.
-  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
-  Strong working knowledge of securities investments.
-  Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Statutory accounting and reporting practices, procedures, and requirements. 
-  In-depth knowledge of Statutory Schedule D, financial footnotes, and exhibits.
-  Experience with CAMRA, PAM, or similar insurance accounting systems.
-  Ability to prioritize and manage reporting workflow during monthly close process while coordinating accounting and asset management deadlines, along with interruptions.
-  Proficient with Microsoft office products.
-  Hands on approach, strong attention to detail, and highly organized.
-  Ability to pass a background check.
-  Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
-  Must be able to respond negatively to a Disciplinary History Questionnaire as required by securities regulations.
